Our Story

Our story began in 1982 when Kathy Kline began teaching swimming lessons with a local swim school.

She taught with the school through the summer of 1994 and at that point, it became impossible to teach for someone else while raising four young children. At this time, Kathy made arrangements with two local health clubs to provide year-round swim lessons at their facilities.

Kathy’s family came up with the name, "AquaKids" when they began their search for a catchy name that would describe what the business was all about. “Aqua” stood for the water part of the business and “A” was the initial of all of Kathy’s children’s first names. “Kids” describes what the business is all about and “K” is the family’s last name initial.

All five of her children have the initials, “AK.”

In April of 1999, AquaKids® opened its first location in Flower Mound, Texas. Due to the great success, a second location was opened in Keller, Texas in September of 2006. The third location in McKinney, TX opened in March of 2018. AquaKids also teaches seasonal swim lessons at Windsong Ranch in Prosper, TX.

Today, Kathy is the President of the company and is actively involved in shaping its future. Kathy believes that the sole purpose for the existence of AquaKids® is to touch the lives of as many children as possible.
